# [Licallo's Storage](Licallo/Licallo's Storage)
Licallo can store up to 175Tbyte[^1]. That storage is visible to the login nodes and compute node. Both home directories and scratch storage are in that disc space.
## Home directories
Each use has a home directory in `/home/<user>`, that disk space is backed up but limited to 20Gbytes.
If that limit is crossed, access will be blocked and you will need to [open a ticket](https://ent.oca.eu) to get a temporary access in order to fix the problem. That procedure is automatic and performed every night.
## Scratch
Each user has a directory in `/scratch/<user>` which is a temporary work area.
*There are no backups on that area* and it is a the user's responsibility to make sure that whatever is stored there has a copy somewhere else or is not critical.
There are no strict quotas enforced on that area either. But abuses will be notified and data can be removed if the usage of the facility is compromised.
We insist on the fact that this is a temporary area. In particular, any data older than 2 month can be removed without prior notice.
As a rule of the thumb, we try to keep the occupation level below 85%.
[^1]: but performances will decrease if too loaded.
